A modern take on Molon Labe

A modern take on Molon Labe

Welcome to Bullets First.  This is my blog that was started during my time as the Director of Media Relations with Gun Owners of America and continues now that I have branched out on my own.

I have transferred my old postings as well as the followers list to this new site and I hope you enjoy it as much as you had my old blog.  I have also founded a new facebook page and twitter account that you may like to peruse.  They are still early and not much has been done as of yet.  This site as well as the others are a little rough but will be improving and streamlining soon, but enough about logistics.

As you can see by the title, Bullets First is the modern take on a philosophy held thousands of years ago by a group of Spartans who faced a tyrant bent on stripping them of their freedom.

When the King of Persia demanded that they lay down their weapons and yield their freedom to him, they simply replied, “Molon Labe” which translates to, “Come and take them”.

Now, on the surface, it is bad ass enough that they told them to if the Persians wanted the Spartans weapons they could come and take them…pointy end first.  But, if you take a secondary look at the words, one could extrapolate the meaning that they were telling the Persians that if they wanted the Spartans to give up their freedoms they would have to fight for that too.

I like the duality of the meaning.  And so, in America today, we as a people need to be willing to follow the Spartan example and be willing to fight, metaphorically and figuratively at first, in order to defend the freedoms that we have so long enjoyed.

If, one day, we find ourselves between the Hot Gates, facing a tyrant who wants to strip us of the last safeguard to all liberty in the land, then let us have the courage and conviction to tell them that they can have our guns…bullets first.

Philadelphia…a city of brotherly thugs

Oh Pennsylvania, what has happened to you?  Not only do we elect a Bloomberg backed anti gun zealot for Attorney General, you allow Philadelphia to be run by an incompetent moron who allows the continual harassment of law abiding citizens by over zealous and bullying cops.  Fitting that the Liberty Bell cracked in Philadelphia.

First, lets talk about Kathleen G Kane.  The G, one could believe stands for “gun killing” since Kane seems hellbent on doing everything in her power to infringe upon the 2nd Amendment Rights of Pennsylvanians.

Kane received a perfect score on CeaseFirePA’s questionnaire. For those outside of the state CeaseFirePA is basically a statewide version of the Brady Campaign who follow similar paths toward the infringements of rights of the populace.  In particular Kane has committed to a review of all concealed carry reciprocity agreements currently in place between Pennsylvania and other states, including Florida, and renegotiating or terminating those that do not meet Pennsylvania’s standards.

A PERFECT SCORE!?!?!  While I couldn’t find the questionnaire sent out to candidates I did find a written response to it from a state Senatorial candidate.  Basically, for Kane to get a perfect score she agreed with every Right infringing suggestion that CeasefirePA wants to push forward.  Currently  Pennsylvanians enjoy reciprocity with 28 other states, when Rights Killing Kane gets through with it who knows how many will be left.

She wants to ban “assault weapons”, spend millions on Gun Violence Task Forces, strip the state of preemption and allow local government to make up their own gun laws, and believes that the right to keep and bear arms is not an individuals constitutional right.

Good job Pennsylvania, you elected a Bloomberg clone for our Attorney General whose main function for the next four years, BECAUSE SHE SAID IT WILL BE, is to crush our right to keep and bear arms.  Bloomberg’s  $600,000 was well spent apparently.

Speaking of Bloomberg and his cadre of Constitution hating Mayors against guns, Mayor Nutter of Philadelphia is once again turning a blind eye and letting the rogue element of his police force get out of hand.

Open carry of a firearm within the city limits of Philadelphia is legal with a Pennsylvania License to Carry a Firearm.  In the rest of the state the LTCF is not needed to Open Carry.  Perhaps, since Nutter and the city of Brotherly thugs are not used to Open Carriers the first instance of Police harassment and brutality could be overlooked as a lack of education.

I am speaking of the incident in that took place in 2011 with Mark Fiorino being assaulted by the Philadelphia PD (for open carrying) and threatened to being murdered for doing nothing wrong.  He was awarded $25,000 (paid for by the taxpayers because Nutter and the guilty cops don’t have to pony up money for breaking the law) and was promised that the entire police department would be re-educated so such an incident would not happen again.

Well, apparently since Nutter and his crooked police force don’t have to actually pay for the crimes they commit (enjoy that Philly taxpayers?) they decide to ignore things like ethics and the law and have once again harassed an Open Carrier in Philadelphia.  This time, Joshua Rodriquez was simply on his way to the barber shop when he was bullied by badge wearing thugs.  These officers tried to brow beat Mr. Rodriquez with lies about the legality of what he was doing and tried to make a public spectacle of him.  Fortunately for Josh he,  like Fiorino, was recording the incident and as such has evidence of the harassment.

I hope that once again this type of thuggish behavior by the PPD is properly dealt with and a suit is won by Mr. Rodriquez.  Perhaps after another tax payer funded abuse settlement the denizens of Philadelphia will decide to elect someone better than Nutter, who doesn’t condone the actions of these keystone koppers

All in all I am worried Pennsylvania.  Sure, Pittsburgh has shades of blue but at least the county is up to thinking for itself and its Police Department, while initially having issues with Open Carry know how to learn from their mistakes and aren’t corrupt like Philadelphia.

But with Nutter and his thug force running Philadelphia into the ground and Kathleen “Gun Killer” Kane soon to run the Attorney General’s office I am having my doubts about the future of the Second Amendment in the Commonwealth.

And to the big talkers in the State Houses that have promised pro gun bills like Constitutional Carry, holding municipality officials liable for passing unconstitutional gun control laws and the Firearm Freedom Act, I am sorely disappointed in your being nothing but paper tigers.  Or perhaps paper RINO’s is more appropriate.

WAKE UP PENNSYLVANIA, the death of the Second Amendment comes right quick.  Philadelphia can’t be sold to New Jersey (wouldn’t that be nice) so we have to battle against the city that has lost all sense of history in order to save the Commonwealth.

Hold your legislators accountable to the promises they made concerning the 2nd Amendment and do not let them negotiate those promises away to the whims of foul fetid fuming foggy filthy Philadelphia.

I’m feelin ya John…I’m feelin ya.

In the debate last night he actually said it.  Surprised me a little but maybe the President let a little of the real Obama slip.

But before I get to the weapons ban that President Obama supports let me get to what he believes the Second Amendment  protects.

Obama: We’re a nation that believes in the Second Amendment, and I believe in the Second Amendment. We’ve got a long tradition of hunting and sportsmen and people who want to make sure they can protect themselves.

The Second Amendment has NOTHING TO DO WITH HUNTING.  The idea of needing to protect hunting back in the 1700′s was about as valued as the need to enumerate the right to breathing.  It was such a part of life that it would be unheard of to deny it to people since many outside of cities needed it to live.

No, Mr. President, though you merely gave it lip service, you were closer to the mark on the last bit.  The Second Amendment is about the people protecting themselves.  Now, while in the simplest terms that is to protect ones self, family and property it broadens out once you look at from whom the people need protection.

Yes, more often firearms are used to stop a burglar, mugger, or nutjob who wants to do us harm directly, but even then, that is not the extent of what the Founders intended for the Second Amendment.

The Founders enumerated the Right to Keep and Bear Arms as a defense against tyranny from overreaching and oppressive governments.  Basically, the 2nd Amendment is the peoples protection against you.

It is the last line of defense against would be despots who would force the people to submit their freedom and liberty to appease a tyrant.

From our Founding Fathers:

“Before a standing army can rule, the people must be disarmed; as they are in almost every kingdom in Europe. The supreme power in America cannot enforce unjust laws by the sword because the whole body of people are armed and constitute a force superior to any band of regular troops that can be, on any pretense, raised in the United States” -Noah Webster

“…Arms discourage and keep the invader and the plunderer in awe, and preserve order in the world as well as property. The balance of power is the scale of peace.” -Thomas Paine

“…What country can preserve its liberties, if its rulers are not warned from time to time, that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify is a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure….” -Thomas Jefferson

Of course, Mr. Obama, the manure I worry about is the kind you were shoveling last night about how the free people of the United States do not “need” semi automatic rifles.

I share your belief that weapons that were designed for soldiers in war theaters don’t belong on our streets.-Obama

Interesting.  I hear gun control zealots all the time saying how the Founding Fathers only knew muskets and that that is all the 2nd Amendment should protect.  That is like saying they only had horses to travel with so even while allowing for invention, cars shouldn’t be allowed to go over 25 miles per hour.

No, Mr. Obama, the weapons have evolved and since the 2nd Amendment is to protect against tyranny then by all means and rights  the American People should and ought to have access to weapons that would keep any dictator who sat in the Oval Office at bay.

Do I need a machine gun to go duck hunting?  Nope.  Do I need it to help as a deterrent from some megalomaniac who would seek to grind me and my liberty under heel?  You bet your life I do.

Because THAT is what the Second Amendment is about.  Freedom.  Liberty.  And the protection of them both.  Saying its about Hunting is like saying Voting is about getting a free cookie at the election hall.  It’s an added bonus but really has nothing to do with the right.

So where do you stand? Apparently you don’t believe in freedom.  You finally let your inner Chicago out.

I’m trying to do is to get a broader conversation about how do we reduce the violence generally. Part of it is seeing if we can get an assault weapons ban reintroduced. – Obama

So, to reduce violence, brought on by a few, you would strip the liberty of the many?  Another Founding Father had a thought about that:

“They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.” –Benjamin Franklin

But Liberty is, and will always be, the bane of tyranny.  Gun Control is about control and Mr. Obama, you have revealed your hand.

You want to point to Aurora, CO?  I point to Tiannemon SquareJallianwala Bagh Massacre, the Holocaust, the Killing Fields, the Great Purge, and slavery.

Those are examples of what a Government can do to an unarmed populace.  May your future for America never come to pass Mr. Obama, for it walks the same lines and will lead to the same results.

The Humane Society is anything but

The Humane Society does not care about domestic pets.  Less than 1% of all money they generate goes to actually shelters where funding is desperately needed.  Despite what the ads on TV would have you believe, the Humane Society does not care about your pet, pounds, shelters or anything of the like.

Their president, Wayne Pacelle, goes so far as to say the following:

When asked if he envisioned a future without pets, “If I had my personal view, perhaps that might take hold. In fact, I don’t want to see another dog or cat born.”

“One generation and out. We have no problem with the extinction of domestic animals.”

That’s right…these people are so out there on the fringe that they don’t even believe that pets should have the right to exist.  No wonder they don’t want to see money spent on shelters, the Human Society’s endgame is the eradication of pets and the more that get euthanized in shelters, the better.

I think the most ironic thing, especially when you are in the thick of the con job that the Humane Society does, is that Mr. Pacelle doesn’t even LIKE animals.

“I don’t have a hands-on fondness for animals…To this day I don’t feel bonded to any non-human animal. I like them and I pet them and I’m kind to them, but there’s no special bond between me and other animals.”

So you have an organization headed by a man who doesn’t like animals and wants to drive all domesticated animals to extinction.  Please reflect on that the next time you see the TV ad for the animal shelter and have a desire to donate to the Humane Society.  Their goal is “the extinction of domestic animals”.

Here’s a link these and other quotes they have made

But of course it goes beyond domestic animals as the Humane Society has also set its sights on hunting.  It is there that Gun Owners of America and the Humane Society cross paths.

If Pacelle wants the extinction of domestic animals, what do you think the leadership wants in regards to hunting?  From his and HSUS Manager John (J.P) Goodwin own mouths:

“If we could shut down all sport hunting in a moment, we would.”

“Our goal is to get sport hunting in the same category as cock fighting and dog fighting.”

“We are going to use the ballot box and the democratic process to stop all hunting in the United States … We will take it species by species until all hunting is stopped in California. Then we will take it state by state.”

Goodwin takes it a step further and fully wraps himself in an eco terrorist stance

“My goal is the abolition of all animal agriculture.”

“The industry has produced a booklet that they are sending out to farmers. This booklet describes security techniques that they can adopt. Security techniques which the (Animal Liberation Front) A.L.F. dismantled in Utah, putting the industry to shame. We haven’t gotten a copy of the booklet yet…”

“Sadly, some so called “animal defenders” are not so supportive of these raids. Ann Davis of the Salt Lake City, Utah based Animal Rights Alliance has stated that she has already talked to the FBI, and will continue to do so. The FBI is working for the fur industry. Anyone that works with them is working hand in hand with the fur trade and is a traitor. If you don’t want to be investigated then don’t associate with turncoats. With friends like these, the mink are screwed…”

“Let it be stated loud and clear, that myself and the Coalition to Abolish the Fur Trade support these actions 100%. We will never, ever, ever work with anyone who helps the FBI stop the A.L.F.”

So, not only do they want to abolish hunting and animal agriculture (which extends to beef cattle, dairy cows, sheep’s wool etc) they also fully support the actions of the eco-terrorist group, Animal Liberation Front.

Mid-blog recap:

The Humane Society of the United States hates domestic animals.

Wants cats and dogs driven to extinction.

Does not support local shelters despite their misleading advertising schemes.

Wants to end hunting and all animal agriculture.

Supports terrorism in pursuit of their goals.

What got me all heated about the con job that the HSUS has been spilling on the American Public?  The petty and lying attacks that the HSUS has regurgitated have led to a passage of a bill in California that has banned the use of hunting dogs to hunt bears and bobcats.

Why is it petty?  Because the push to ban the use of hunting dogs (something that has existed for 15,000 years) was brought on by the HSUS when they found out that the Chairman of the Fish and Wildlife Game Commission in California, Dan Richards, went to Montana to hunt mountain lion with hounds.  Now, Mr. Richards did nothing illegal mind you, he paid his tags and mountain lions are not illegal to hunt in Idaho.

But after reading the eco-terrorism that the HSUS supports is it any doubt that petty revenge would be beneath them?  With the cabal of lawyers and lobbyist the HSUS have, paid with money that most people thought would be going to save domestic animals at shelters, the HSUS got the hunting dog ban bill passed.

Now it sits on Gov. Brown’s desk awaiting his signature or veto.  The Governor has until the end of the month to do one or the other; otherwise the bill will become law regardless.

But, like the Humane Society leadership has said, California is only the beginning.  They want the eradication of hunting in the United States, beginning in California and going eastward until there are no pets or hunting or using of animals anywhere in the country.

No more lap dogs or house cats, no more cattle or dairy industry, no more horseback riding or sheep herds.  THE TOTAL ELIMINATION OF THE USE OF ANIMALS IN AMERICA IS THE GOAL OF THE HUMANE SOCIETY OF THE UNITED STATES.

I want to drive that point home because it’s just incredulous to me that this organization not only exists but is supported by so many people who have been hoodwinked and bamboozled by the misrepresentation and outright lying that the HSUS does.

The HSUS will continue on with their goals if people fail to realize what those goals are and continue to support them.  Don’t believe their lies.  They do not help shelters, they do not help animals, they help themselves line their pockets with contributions by people they have duped and use the funds left over to be a mouthpiece for terrorism (A.L.F) and to lobby against the American way of life.

Final Recap (because the point is important)

The Humane Society of the United States hates domestic animals

Wants cats and dogs driven to extinction

Does not support local shelters despite their misleading advertising schemes.

Wants to end hunting and all animal agriculture.

Supports terrorism in pursuit of their goals.

Will seek legislation out of pettiness and vengeance

Misrepresents themselves, their mission and their opposition.

Would eliminate animal agriculture (no meat, no dairy, no wool)

For the HSUS, California is only the starting point…they will be coming for you sooner or later.

Not only do I think that the Humane Society of the United States are out of their minds, I think they are a corrupted organization that preys on the good nature of the American people to steal money from them in order to pursue their own twisted goals.  In July of this year a judge ruled that the HSUS is going to court to face charges under RICO statues on racketeering, obstruction of justice, malicious prosecution and a number of other charges.

I am hoping that this vile and extremist organization is finally brought out into the light so people can see what they are really trying to do and where their contributions are really going.

Helping animals is a good and noble thing.  If you see an ad by the HSUS on TV that shows an animal shelter in need, I implore you to go to that shelter and give money to them directly.  The HSUS will only use that money to make themselves rich (Pacelle makes $2.6 MILLION a year), pay for lawyers to defend themselves against racketeering charges, and to lobbyists to carry out vendettas.

One final time, the Humane Society of the United States is an organization that wants to kill your pets.

The Humane Society of the United States wants to end the use of ALL animals in society.

The Humane Society of the United States supports eco-terrorism groups like the Animal Liberation Front.

The HSUS is a dangerous group, they are persuasive and good at conning people and that has made them well funded and powerful.  Help spread the word and reveal the true nature of this extremist group.  Help animals and oppose the HSUS.

If you are in California and want to stand up against this organization, contact Gov. Brown’s office and ask for his veto on SB 1221.

Don’t let us the HSUS turn us into a country of pet-less vegans.

Weekend Hodgepodge

With the first full Sunday of American football here in the states I just wanted to reflect on how great the fall season is in America.

We have playoff baseball.  Because lets face it…160 some odd games is a lot to stay excited about.  But once the fall comes around the races matter, wild card births are being fought over and come October every single pitch and at bat matters.

Hunting season really kicks in.  Depending on where you are there there are numerous things to hunt and different times of the year but being raised in the North East I always associate the fall with deer and bear hunting.  Of course, depending on the state Bear season can start as early as September (NH) or not until November (PA).

Apple Pie.  Yes, we all serve apple pie for on picnics and July 4th and so on, but the real apple harvest…the good one with the sweet sweet juiciness of all an apple’s potential is in the fall.  I remember fondly going apple picking around this time of year as a kid with the long stick with a little bag at the end in order to get the apples higher up in the tree.  Good times.  Plus I also remember a few times going to the pumpkin patches as well.  Lifting pumpkins the size of small mountains.  Pumpkin pie is good too.

The weather.  Summers Hot, Winters Cold, Springs wet, but Autumn is juuuuuust right.

Football.  Baseball may be America’s pastime but football is America’s sport. I am always reminded of a line from the Musical 1776 spoken by Ben Franklin in why America was different than Britain.

“We’ve spawned a new race here, Mr. Dikinson. Rougher, simpler; more violent, more enterprising; less refined. We’re a new nationality. We require a new nation”

And football is the sport that defines that nationality best.  Its violent and beautiful.  It’s a place where heart matters and can overcome skill, where stands are made and even if they fail the fact that they are made give hope.  Football embodies the American spirit and I always feel a little better when it is being played.

Side note: Think about this, Futbol(soccer) is the worlds game. The beautiful game it is called where no one knows the time and people flail around and cry about fake injuries in order to get sympathy from the refs.  Sounds pretty much like any UN Operation I’ve heard of.

But I digress.  Fall is also the election time of year.  Now, many don’t really care considering such low voter turnout but I always appreciate the dog and pony show and how if the media was fair Ron Paul would’ve probably had a shot and if he didn’t Romney would probably be up by 15 points right now.  I mean, lowest workforce participation in over 30 years and the Politico titles their page “State of the Race: Advantage Obama”.  Yeah…don’t lead with anything that might actually be the truth and hurt that statement.

Grrr…all right, maybe elections aren’t so great.  But everything else is.  Even heading back to school was always fun.  A new year to broaden my horizons, see old friends and so forth.

And lets not forget the downright plethora of holidays in the year.  It starts off with Labor Day, a day we celebrate labor by not doing any.  Then we have Halloween which is fun for everyone.  Thanksgiving, which couples an abundance of food, family and football together.  How American is that?  And then there is Christmas and Hanukkah. I include those because I like shopping for those holiday’s and I do that in the fall so I don’t have to get crushed in stores come the winter.

So, the random thoughts on why the Autumn in America is the best time of year.  Go Steelers!

Disclaimer: The rooting for the Steelers is not an official endorsement by Gun Owners of America and is reserved solely by the author and his Primanti brother sandwich eating, terrible towel waving, yinzer loving Pittsburghese self.

One should always stand up to bullies, even if they have a badge

I am glad to see that the corruption and racketeering of some in the Nassau Country Police Department does not go unchallenged, especially when the victim happens to be a gun shop owner on the border of his royal pompousness Emperor Bloomberg’s fiefdom (formerly known as New York City).  $5 million for wrongful arrest from alleged crooked cop with a beef.

The shakedown began in 2006 when Officer Erik Faltings in the Pistol Licensing Bureau of Nassau County came to gun shop owner Martin Tretola and asked him to release some weapons to a friend of Faltings in March of that year.  Tretola questioned the legality of such a request and as a responsible gun shop owner refused.

Officer Faltings apparently didn’t like not being obeyed unquestioningly and according to charges in the court documents orchestrated a raid on Tretola’s T&T Gunnery store which included the Nassau County Fire Marshall, Nassau County Bomb Squad and the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Firearms, and Tobacco.    It would seem that Officer Faltings likes to emulate Adolf Hitler who stated that one should lie big since the people would not believe that someone could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously.

Tretola’s attorney, Steven Harfenist puts the ordeal succinctly when he states, “I feel (Faltings) had an animus towards Marty.  He didn’t like being told he didn’t know how to do his job.  He was trying to do somebody a favor and Marty didn’t go along with it.  (Faltings) came down with the dogs of war.”

So basically, if you stand up for what is right and not cave into a crooked cop and his cronyism you will get the dogs of war called down upon you.  And if you happen to be a gun shop owner, be prepared to have your name besmirched when you are brought up on trumped up gun charges.

The main charge in this case was that Tretola was operating an illegal firing range.  When the truth of the matter was he simply maintained a trap box – a device for safely discharging bullets from gun for test purposes.  That charge was dismissed.

Faltings wasn’t satisfied with having his vendetta interrupted by facts or the law so he later brought up charges for filing a false instrument for licensing requirements.  That charge was also dismissed.

The harassment and intimidation attempts did not stop there, last year Tretola was arrested for illegally selling assault weapons.  That charge was also dismissed.

Of course, the Nassau County Attorney John Ciampoli comes to the defense of his crooked officer dismissing the claim that Faltings had targeted Tretola.  Of course, with all the dismissing Ciampoli has dealt with in this case, maybe that is just his knee jerk reaction.   Thankfully, the federal jury in awarding Mr. Tretola $5 million wasn’t swayed by the thin blue line but rather took into account what was plain to see, badge or not a vendetta is a vendetta.

Ciampoli, instead of admitting there’s a crooked cop on the payroll and going after the criminal wearing a badge has decided to ask for the verdict in Tretola’s case to be set aside, and if that doesn’t work filing an appeal.

And people wonder why I will not willingly forfeit my rights to an officer on his whim.  Be they my 1st, 2nd, 4th, or 5th, I will not give up any rights for the ol’ “go along to get along” idiom.  The police are people just like anyone else.  Some are good people and others are not.

One should be wary in knowing which one they are dealing with because every so often you will, especially as a gun owner, come across an Officer Faltings who would use his badge for his own nefarious and selfish desires.

I would like to hope that a $5 million loss to the county would wake Officer Faltings or the county itself that such shenanigans and criminal activity will not be tolerated by the public servants but there’s the rub.  Neither Officer Faltings, nor DA Ciampoli will have to pay one red cent to this.  This buck gets passed onto the good taxpayers of Nassau County.

I hope they remember who tolerates breaches of the public trust come next election.
